Help me get my friends hooked! (PLEASE!)
Hey everyone,
I can't tell you how long I've been looking for a site like this that actually receives daily attention - I don't know how it took me this long to find it but boy am I glad to see all of you. So a quick back story - I'm a born and raised fly fisherman but 5 or 6 years ago we bought a house in La Jolla so I decided to try my hand at fishing from the kayak. Went to the store and bought a fully outfitted (a decision I regret doing before I had more knowledge...) Malibu kayak. I've been out at least a dozen times and have had mixed results. With the exception of one time almost all my success has been from getting tips from friendly locals. So this isn't my forte by any means but I'm going out this weekend with a couple of friends and want to know what is the best way to improve our odds of catching some fish? We have okay gear, nothing special, and are trying to keep it cost effective. More concerned with technique, time, location (I'll be launching from LJ Shores regardless), what to go for... yadda-yadda-yadda. Basically, I just want to show these guys a good time and they don't care if we catch anything specific... they'd be happy with a fish, any fish. So where can we go and what can we do to ensure that I get these guys to come back for more? Thanks and look forward to any advice you can give, Neil |
