Lotto #'s 11-12-10, 11-16-10
11-12-10
With clear skies, no surf, and squid for miles there was only one decision to make. What time should I wake up? With the yellowtail fever coursing through my veins was sleep even an option. DeepDvr and I decided rather than sleep lets start early. Getting off work at 9 the night before 11/12/10, I ate dinner watched fishing movies for an hour and loaded the truck. Get to the launch at 11:45 p.m. with a pint of Ballast Point Yellowtail and six pack of Sierra Nevada pale ale and Torpedo donated by DeepDvr a special 21st bday present. Launch the yaks get out onto the grounds with no one around. Find some squid drop down load up around 4:00 am start to look around and find no signs of ghosts. 6:00am get ready for the yellowtail to start roaming around. Finding Wade on the water, R&B and Eekamouse the five of us nearly all alone, one of us was bound to get bit with the area we were covering. Right around 7:30 it starts to get interesting. Everything on my meter disappears; macs are gone no sign of squid, "Here it comes!" running through mind. Whack, then steady pull I set and the sleigh ride begins. With the posse watching my back for brown turds I grind away. 10 min later 40 lb class yellow in my lap and Wade is hooked up flying away. Strapped down the mossy and go after Wade to find the football of a home guard in his arms. "DON'T BLEED IT WADE!" Get some shots on the water start heading in. A most successful all nighter. 11-16-10 Later start, if 3:00 am is later. Launch, Wade and Eekamouse rollin out time to go. The fog was so bad barely could see 15 ft in front of you with lights flashing and everything. Make bait get ready for the moss to start growing. Here comes the sun 6:00 am clear screen no macs or signs of squid. Tick, tick, steady pull, wham wham, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 250 yds later start gaining some ground. Felt very strange how the fish was running almost felt like it was coming straight for me and I realize hes heading for some floating kelp. Trying to get an idea of where he was I look where my line is leading and see mister boss moss swimming under a fat pile of kelp. He sees me gets real nervous and really starts digging in. With the yellow all wrapped up I started unwrapping my early Christmas gift and here he is mister yellow. 32lb take some pics get him bled and secured back to the grounds. Keep at it decided to leave early get some rest before work. Awesome sunny, windless weather couldn't ask for more but to end the morning with a nice lunch and some awesome beer. Yes, I am 21 now. Went out 11-18-10 and 11-19-10 no yellows to be seen, caught a bsb looked pretty tasty haha. Just kidding vented and released swam away like a champ. With some nasty surf and wind time to catch up on some rest and gain some weight eating turkey. Happy Thanksgiving everyone and good fishing! P.S. All dropper loop for me. |
