June's Canyon Party

June started out a bit slow but I did get into the Canyon Party with a 39 lb. 47" WSB on an iron on 6/18.

Last week my son came into the office with me on Friday and we headed out to sea after the close. Getting out thru the surf was no problem but coming in as the swell picked-up was quite another affair. I had to back paddle over a few waves before I was lucky enough to find a bit of a lull to get in without rolling. Lucas had tears of fear in his eyes but afterward he told my wife that he was not afraid. We high fived after both landings. The Yellowtail weighed only 21 pounds 36" but it fought like a 30 pounder after it hit a trolled Mackerel so the old techniques are back in style.

If getting a fish on an iron is worth a few more points how many more points is having your kid on your yak while landing a big fish worth?

My on the water shots are posted on the Fishing Reports Forum under Swell is Down, and I was not able to figure out how to attach a second time here.WSB39lbs61910.jpg
