3/12 Last bug trip for the season
Been too long since I hooped last so when Sherm called I said "Lets Go!" Met up and launched the yaks around 9:45pm. The outgoing tide made the long paddle out seem not so long at all.
Got to our spot and lined em up and dropped em down. First pull produced a few shorts and a couple nice rock crab. The next few pulls had keeper bugs and a couple HUGE spider crabs. Moved the hoops around a few more times for a couple more keepers. A dog showed up around midnight or so and was just RELENTLESS . He just kept going up and down our line of nets. I was unloading point blank with my paintball gun and he would just leave for a few minutes and come right back. We finally said screw it after one of my hoops got tore up and started the 3 mile paddle back in around 1:15. Scott actually got the biggest bug of the night on his last pull. Can't believe the dog didn't scare it away. When we first got out to our spot, there was a small boat with 4 loud guys onboard who were obviously wasted . Sounded like they were into Jagermiester. Both Sherm and I thought for sure they were going to run their boat up onto the rocks. They finally left and took their booze cruise to parts unknown . We didnt do too bad our last time out for the season. Scott got 6 keepers and I got 4 and 3 nice rock crabs. Now it's time to head out off La Jolla to target WSB and Yellowtail . Peace, Spyder |
