Decided to brave the weekend crowds Saturday and give it a shot. Made the drive down to launch at gray light with half dozen others already on the beach. To my surprise, a very light day on the water traffic wise. Maybe a dozen or so boats and even less yaks out with it clearing out at about 10:30am. Felt like a Wednesday out there!
On the search for my first from the yak (still ) Made some nice greenies at the pier and also had a hitch-hiker: Dropped the trollers high and low near the condo. After a few minutes the low rig starts singing. Give a 5 count and put her in gear only to get this back (sorry for the water on the lens): Reset only to feed a few dogs with an early morning snack or two. Four baits lost to the dogs during the day. Saw some birds working hard and a dog in the middle of the pack smacking a Bonie around on the surface so went to get a closer look. High rig goes off and as I suspected... Caught four of these "tiny tuna" during the day and based off Yani's recipe posts, decided I would keep one to give to my G/F's Mom. They are Taiwanese so anxious to see what her culinary skills can do with it. Wrapped up the day about 2pm with no yellow but a fun day playing with the boners. Caught a couple off blind surface iron tosses and always amazed how hard the 8-9lbrs can pull on my 20-40lb 8.5' stick. See ya on the water.. -Steve Last edited by forefrazier; 10-11-2009 at 07:46 PM. |
