Sd bay and the pencil snots invasion
I was in the need of getting on the water. Something about these hot days that do that to me. Anyway.....I hit the bay around 5pm. The tide was coming in ever so slightly and wasn't going to last for long. There was little wind and an easy paddle to my fishing spot.
The fishing was slow. What a difference the tide can make. There was virtually no wind and no tidal movement. Tough fishing conditions indeed. I finally put away the bottom rig as there was no dift at all. casting the plastics was what yesterday was about. I managed a few small bass and then the pencil snotsticks moved in. They were just pests. I lost four plastics to them as they kept biting me off. I couldn't get to the bottom very often because they just wouldn't go away. I moved to another area and they were there as well. I finally moved back towards the launch to get away from them. Scraped up some more spotties over there. great skys last night and easy to lilght the stoagie kinda winds. A very relaxing day even if the fishing was way slow. I knew it wouldn't be that great because of the tides but it was a nice day on the water none the less. Fish Count: 12 pencil snots 5 Spotties 1 Checker 1 Turdroller C&R All |
