May 14 First Trip

Hey Fishing Friends,

First trip out on SD Bay this year. Launched from Shelter Island launch ramp at about 0715. Water was comfortable. Sky was clear water was calm. Was only planning to fish for a couple hours. Caught my first fish at about 0730 off of the Shelter Island Pier. Sandie hit hard. Caught two more as the tide was going out. Made my way across to North Island. No bites on the troll or on the island side. Went back to SI area. Caught a fat spottie and another sandie. Five total. All my bites came from bottom hits. Ghost Shrimp plastic worked. Biggest was 14 inches. Others averaged about 11 inches.

Wind picked up early around 0915.

Good luck to you all.
