Rockfish closes 12-31-08 & pics!
Not that you should target these overfished creatures...!
Rockfish The recreational fishery for rockfish (Sebastes sp.) is open year-round to divers2 and shore-based anglers. The fishery is open to boat-based anglers from March 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008 . These species may only be taken or possessed4 in waters less than 360 feet (60 fathoms) deep. The daily bag and possession limit is 10 fish in combination of all species within the RCG Complex (includes all species of Rockfish, Cabezon and Greenlings) per person, with a sub-limit on bocaccio (1 per person, minimum size limit of 10 inches total length, also included in the 10 fish RCG Complex aggregate limit). Yelloweye rockfish, canary rockfish and cowcod may not be retained (bag limit: zero). Link I looked up some stuff, as I got a copper last weekend, as by-catch, looking for Halilamb. (halibut smiley pending) I found this link of rock fish, this guy put together a pretty good photo display. http://www.bocaboard.com/forum/showthread.php?t=372 I am not even sure, how likely it is to catch some of these closed fish in our local waters. Some look very close. Here is a Canary, which is not legal to keep. looks similar to copper. Yellow Eye, closed. One might think it is a Vermillion. The eye is a dead giveaway. Cowcod, closed. From this pic, similar to Vermillion. Vermillion, A few different versions below. You can see different shades & coloring. Chris vote for me, post of the month! ok, it is a slow day at work...! |
