June Lake Loop and Lake Marry 2021

Well……….. Fishing was brutal, lake flys and full moon …anyways, we started the trip with an evening session aka scoping the lake for marsh n reeds, found it and proceeded to fish while everyone went home. Trout Boiling everywhere on the surface, one taker on the gold n red Thomas buoyant. Tossed our hoops all ninja like, and went back to the cabin for some drinks. Early next morning, like 4am early, grabbed the pots and were surprised to see them full, like a 5GL bucket 3/4 full, maybe 70 or so. Super stoked, thanks Saba for the tips!!

1st day we fished June Lake for a total of 2 trout, both broke off.. oldest son went ham and basically reeled fish into the boat, second one my pops broke off on the mini trout pattern rapala, don’t ask me how. Call it a day, go grab some beers n tacos at the Brewery, no biggie. So we set the nets in same spots, same ninja tactic, and the following morning a little later because we were hungover, we discover the money load, an easy 100+(see last pic in video, that’s rather large cooler).

2nd day fishing was at Lake Mary up in the Mammoth area, not a bad drive from the loop and supposedly stocked a few days prior so we are stoked to bounce back and do what we normally do up here, kill fish!! Well that didn’t happen! Before we could get to out boat, the dock dudes are talking this and that about the slow bite and blah blah, yep didn’t even see much on the FF, fished the whole lake, ledges, shelf’s, you name it, naaaaaaddda. Bummed!

Oh yea we had to fish lakes with a pontoon since there was 7 of us and 2 being my rambunctious boys. Not a fan of either, prefer Gull or Silver, but no pontoons and S. lake cancelled our reservation due to water being to low to launch the pontoon.

Still an awesome trip my boys, wife and pops will always remember and a glimpse of how beautiful and peaceful the Sierra’s are!

Here’s a video iPhone creates, pretty cool but creepy at the same time. #irobot
