There are several launch spots to get to LB Harbor. If you want to launch from the peninsula but on the inside you can drive to the end of the peninsula and park in the neighborhood and drag your kayak through the ice plant and over the sand to the water or you can launch at horny corner were their is parking and small ramp. Using the ramp at horny corner will add about 15-20 mins of paddle time to get to the Los Alamitos Bay entrance. You can fish the various oil islands or paddle straight out to the break wall from there. Plenty of fish in the bay as well although they are usually smaller.

Cabrillo Beach is at the other end of the break wall. You can launch from the boat ramp around the corner or the beach on the inside if you don't want to deal with waves of any kind. Be warned that the wind in the afternoon blows from the beach across the harbor and you will be paddling up wind if you stay into the afternoon.
