Cabrillo 1-24-20
Late start at 9. It was damn cold in the morning before that.
Water was from 58-60. Sunny in the morning but a fog rolled in about 2. I think it helped keep the wind down so I was able to fish through the tide until 4. It was a day of opposites but the fish were willing. I caught two really nice calico's back to back. One 18" and one 17". I also caught probably the smallest sand bass I have ever seen. It was barely bigger than the lure I was using. A slow presentation was the ticket today. Most bites coming on the drop or right of the bottom. All fish caught on green tube baits and released. A nice quiet day on the water. I only saw two other boats and a couple of stand up paddlers all day. A nice way to start the year out right. Final Count: 15 Calico's 7 Sand Bass 1 Copper Rockfish |
