Tuesday on SD Bay
Good evening fishing family. Fishinmike and I got out on SD Bay today. Needed it as I worked a ton this last week. We launched from the Shelter Island wading beach at 6 a.m. They are still working on the launch ramp. No wind this morning with May grey. Air Temp about 63 degrees. Water was comfortable. Fished the area of the launch ramp with no bites at all. Trolled to the pier and got hit by a Mack. Pod of dolphins swimming the area. They moved slowly out to the lower range marker then out. Seals out and about. Not sure how it affected the bite.
Caught one spottie near the pier then Fishinmike and went out to the bait barge area. Much better luck there. Caught 2 Cudas and a couple other fish. Breeze picked up around 10 and pushed me out. Work called and next thing I knew I was about 250 yards away. From there we fished the lower range marker. Couple bites and picked one short one. Finished up at the Shelter Island anchorage. Finished strong there. Wind and current wore me out. Final count: 2 Cudas, 2 Macks, 1 cali, 3 spotties and 1 Lizard fish. Fishinmike: 5 sandies, 1 Cali, 1Cuda. |
