Fishing report LJ 3Apr

I said fishing, not catching. Launched about 5:30, only got knee down wet. Water very clear 58. Caught Big macs easily. I use a tube for live well so I only got 4 to start (and finish as it turned out. Flylined a 10" and dropped a 12". Pretty quiet, which is why I went on Tuesday. Handful of yaks and another of PBs. With the bait I was using it was big or nothing. I was thinking it would be nothing, but about 10:30 my dropper started moving like a halibut was playing with it. I freewheeled for a but till it started taking line faster, then set the hook. Nice little ride, but short. It was going all over the place... up, down around my flyline, under behind...all in just a few minutes. Finally got it to color and it was a 25-30lb shark. Don't know what kind, because it went nutso, slapped the yak a few times, then dove again, breaking my line. I know it wasn't a thresher, leopard or white. Anyway, I decided that was good for the day so I flylined to the MLPA on my way in, and When I reeled the mac in after 4+ hours of trolling it, that mac was as lively as when I caught it. I thanked him for his service and released him.
Great day on the water!
