LJ Sunday 8/10

Made my Sunday rounds for this week. Made my way out dry and headed out towards the winter grounds. I wasn't very confident after seeing the bite over the last week or two and assumed it had to be over. Beautiful morning really. The dark was fading out a bit with the slightest hint of sun over the La Jolla hills behind me. As I looked back forward I noticed above me the brightest shooting star I've seen in years. I immedietely remember Brad's post about him and his buddy seeing a shooting star on their paddle out and I too made the same wish.
"A big fish"

Not exactly a monster but good enough for me. Jumping back a little bit, a few minutes after I saw the shooting star I passed the reserve bouys and headed towards the crowd to see what was happening. I really just wanted to get a sense for what was going on. Were there squid? Were there fish? Only talked to a couple guys and they didn't really know. I found a somewhat open area and dropped my candy catcher. First drop I got two squirts. Bait tank wasn't working so I had to dump in water from my gatorade bottle. As soon as I got water in the tank I dropped back down and never did find the squid again. Seemed as though the bonito heads were biting though. That one last run at the end was fun (as the dog made my job easier). A bonito head is easier to get off your squid jig than a whole, live bonie. This happened again and I figured it was time to send down my meager bait supply. The Lamb Hearder (Adi) made his pass by Sherm and I and he handed me a piece of fresh dead squid and a couple dines. I immedietely sent the squid back down after my previous two were losers. Hook up shortly after and the above picture tells the rest.

After I ran out of bait I moved to the iron. Not to much longer after that I'm on again.

OEX/SDKA Kearney Mesa isn't open on Sundays so an official weight wasn't an option so a WCW submission will have to caught and made later this month. I'm just stoked that I managed a couple.
