Gonzaga Bay, Dec 11-13 2016
Kayak fished with couple friends at Gonzaga Bay over 3 days-
General Story: Weather was great, pretty flat, little to no wind, big tide fluxes with it being full moon time. Days short - because dark (except for the moonlighht) by 5pm... We did not find much surface boils or birds working, except for one instance of a large frenzy that stayed up for at least 20+ minutes. Saw a few small boils here and there, but appeared to be mostly small Yellows that we had a hard time getting to go or some small Barracuda. Yield from Frenzy and while just fishing near the Point/rocky outcrops nearshore - Lots and lots of Sierra (5-10 lbs). Caught a few YT (3-7 lbs) and a few nicer size Cabrillo (caught a couple ~15 lb and 4 other ~7 lb) mixed in. A few seemingly random black skippies too. For awhile couldn't stop catching Sierras once started trolling. Did I already say lots of Sierra? Didn't know what to expect from December trip - but was Fun and best fishing out of the 4 trips taken down thataways this year. cheers- Corey |
