Took some time this weekend and hit up Dana Point...
Saturday - On the water at 10am, bait at the receiver was 5 inch sardines, water was calm with a light chop on it which gradually backed off as the wind died down, temp was 74.5. In a word, Calico's, they were on the chew big time. At one point I had either two rods going or could not get the second one baited and out before hooking up on another one. Most were just under 14" but a couple hit the 3-4lb mark. Stayed out all day, ran out of sardines, got back to the docks at 8:15pm. Sunday - On the water at 8am, same bait and water except there was a swell building and the chop din't settle down later in the day.. Again, Calico's, only not as aggressive. I think the building swell effected them running for cover, just a theory though. One short today, all others were in the 3-5lb range and one small WSB, about 14". Not as many fish though. Got back to the dock at 7pm. Hard to get out of bad this morning....
