something fishy

Whent out to la jolla yesterday. had the strangest event. I was trolling with a dropper loop and fly line very slow got nailed on the bottom.macrel looked ripped up so keep on trolling about 20 minutes later goes off again.Here's the strange part. The fish was on, then came swiming toward me I continued reeling until I had him on. Fish was now off the bow staight down, then my other pole goes off. I yelled double hook up a couple guys started making their way over while I'm cranking on the fresh one just to keep the fish on and still cranking on the bottom rig keep my fish and I feel a slip almost like I lost the fish on the bottom rig but it was still there so I keep cranking and a hand off the top rig to my partner on the water we're both winding finally I get my droper loop up no fish tangled with other Line so the fish was still on the rod I handed off he brought it back over to me and I kept cranking on that one ended up being a 29-point 8 yellow the weird part is when I brought him up he was hooked by the tail, I still can't figure it out.
