Throwing flies in the 'Bu, Sunday, 2/28/2016
I only had an hour or two but I caught a bunch of fish.
I ended up with an even dozen of "rat" sized calico and johnny bass, and also one legal calico, probably about 16". Also two new species, one was a googly-eyed smelt, and I'm still trying to figure out what the other one was. Started fishing with an olive over white streamer, but no hits after a dozen casts, so I switched to the only red fly that I had as I heard the red tuna crabs are back in force. Trying to match the hatch. Sure enough, first cast, first calico. For the next 1/2 hour or so I got hit on what seemed like just about every cast. Then it started getting a little darker, and it was really foggy, so I bailed! Really fun! Andy |
