5/2 SD Bay / Afternoon of quality fishing
Launched the yak out of SI around 4:00pm. The incoming tide was moving nicely when I got to my first spot. Picked up a few nice sandies and moved in for a few spotties.
Moved out towards the middle of the bay to try my luck. BINGO Drift after drift I was pulling in 16" to 18" sand bass. I even got a double. Then my light line set up gets hit on the retrieve and starts peeling line. I thought it was a nice flattie at first until I finally reeled in a toad sandie. Measured just over 20" . Stayed there for a awhile and finally let the drift take me back to the lauch around 7:00pm. I would say I C&R'ed about 18 sandies, 5 spotties, a couple sugar bass, and a leezard feesh. Fish caught using a variety of baits including GULP mullet, jerk, and shrimp, plastic swimbaits and Trix jetty worms smothered in Uni-butter. Pics are from my cellphone so a bit "fuzzy". A great afternoon of feeshin 4-sure. Peace, Spyder |
