What a day
I launched at around 6 a.m. through some big waves. I was soaked by the time I got out. After working the sabiki for 30 minutes, I ended up with a greenback, a few spanish macks, and some of those blue and yellow baitfish that are always at the surface.
At about 110 feet, I slapped on a blue and yellow baitfish and trolled it for 30 minutes before my first hookup. This guy was about 15 pounds. I came out here planning to release my fish, so I grabbed him by the tail and pulled him overboard, took out the hook, and he swam away happy. I hookup up a spanish and paddled around a bit. After landing number two, I realized that I can always use more meat and eat it throughout the year, so I gaffed him. This guy was 16 pounds. While paddling in around 11 a.m., I saw a kelp paddy and turned around to check it out. I did one sweep right next to it with no luck, but turned around and gave it another shot. On my second pass, I hooked up on this 18 pounder. I was hoping for a dorado, but I can't complain. This is 5 YT in my last two sessions off the yak.
