Newport, 2-20-15
Overslept this morning and Steve had to wake my butt up. Eventually, at 7:15 we launched. Another BWE member (though he only lurks) joined us, but I'm spacing on his name at the moment. I'll think it is Randy? Water was much clearer and a degree colder than last week. The air was chilly and there was a bit of south wind.
The bite today was really slow for Steve and I. At 8:30ish I was wondering if I'd ever get a bite. We worked a lot of areas for very few bites. Eventually we picked a few. Then the tide peaked. I went at least an hour with out a bite. Then the tide started to drop and I moved back to where I got my previous fish. Got 2 more in 2 casts and that was it for the day. 6 spotties, 1 of them legal. The rest were in the 12-13" range. At least no dinks for me. Baits that caught fish for me were 4" Paddlerz in New Penny and Red Bone, and the 3" Flurry in Red Fish. Hot Sauce for flavor of course. We gave up just before noon.
