First and Last LJ Trip of 2015
Since my time in California is running out, my son and I decided to hit La Jolla one more time before I leave. Had an easy launch at 5:45 other than my mood was rather pissy when I realized I had left my sonar/gps battery at home. We strictly used irons today although bait was plentiful and puddling on the surface. Spent the morning chasing bait balls and birds and casting blindly. There was a lot of life to be seen including whales dolphins and the ever present fur bags. Finally at about 11:15 my son came on the radio and said "I'm hooked up" I was about a quarter mile from him and I bee lined over to him for some pictures. He landed a nice 40 inch forkie after a good fight. I paddled up current from where he landed his and after 3 casts I was on and ended up landing another big shouldered 40 incher. Both released fight another day.
