Iron Monday

I love having weekdays off!
My friends said there was 50+ boats and people over the weekend so I expected a crowd on the water and the beach, to my surprise I only saw about 3 yakers and 2 boats. Peddled around with no one else around, such peace

Water temp 63
glassy and blue.
Whales everywhere.

Decided not to waste time making bait and get after them with my trusty iron.
Found a large flock of cormorants and birds sitting/splashing on the water. They were swimming down to pick at a bait school, and they weren't alone Awesome marks on the finder. I get picked up on the first drop, and it smokes me. Mid-fight a sea lion shows up and starts coming up towards me. I try to hide my rod tip from her, and hope she doesn't notice. Semi distracted I lose some tension and a big head shake throws the hook Felt pretty stupid but didn't spend too long feeling sorry for myself, there was plenty more were that came from!
Get back on the school and its game on. Great fight, some buoy dodging, and sore arms. 30lb & 25lbs. Plus a swing and a miss. Awesome day.

Thank you Mark for the OTW picture!

Lots of color in these fillets! Been eating bellies and kama all day
