Florida Keys fishing report, finally!
We got the boat sorted out, fouled plugs and low batteries.
We went out about six miles where the water was sixty feet deep. Fish were stacked on the Hummingbird. We caught tons of small jack Crevalle, small snappers of many species and Grunts. The two star species were two Hogfish and some Bolthead Porgies. The Hogfish are considered to be a delicacy, they were! The Porgies were better IMO. Many were released. Great fighters, drag rippers on my 40 size spinner. Small grouper. We baked the Hogfish and Panko crusted the Porgies. Key Lime pie on stick for dessert! Vicky's highlight of the day was when she saw a turtle five feet away at the dock. She was so excited and yelled that I thought that she was stung by a hornet. We may fish in the morning. No trophies, but my wife got to share fishing time with me, priceless! Last edited by MrPatrick; 09-18-2014 at 06:33 PM. |
