Newport, 7-7-14

Launched at about 5:30 this morning with Landwhale. At about 7:00 Adam joined us. First thing of note was the fact that the wind was barely blowing this morning. I think that's the first time in a couple of months. Water was really grassy and really warm (74-76º).

I was really slow for me from launch until about 9:30. I think I had 4 bass in that first 4 hours. Steve had 10+. Paddled back to the launch to go to the restroom and after that I decided to not go back to where I had been. Worked over some eel grass and drop offs and eventually got into a pattern that produced 7 legal spots and a Yellow Fin...croaker in about 45 minutes. Then it died again and finally I had to go home. So the final tally was 7 legal spots, 4 shorts, and the yellow fin.

The Baits that produced today were a 4" Flurry in White Out with an orange Warbaits Slayer head, Paddlerz in New Penny, Red Bone, and Rootbeer gold flake. The Paddlerz were mounted on an Owner Ultrahead. Hot Sauce for flavor of course.

Finally, It was a pleasure as always to fish with Steve and also Adam. Looking forward to Mission Bay next Monday.
