Newport, 5-5-14
Set the alarm for 4am, got up at 6am. All the way there I was wishing I hadn't over slept. Well, I didn't feel that so much once I got there. Launched at 7:15. Windy, cloudy and cold. Water was 65º and dirty. With the wind against the current and lots of wind chop I didn't spend much time near the launch (read no biters in 20min). I went and hid behind the peninsula. Little to no current over there, but at least I wasn't getting blown all over the place. Hit lots of mooring cans and the channel edge for one nice legal and one short. Both sandies. The legal ate a 4" Flurry in gold/chartreuse and the short ate a slip jig in white and chartreuse. Around 8:30 the wind really picked up, even in the lee of the peninsula it was blowing. The tidal movement died, I didn't feel like waiting around for it to start back up. Off the water by about 9:45.
