Switching between multiple setups

I'm heading to Catalina with my wife and wanted to fish while I was out there. I want to travel light, probably just one rod and a single container of plastics and lures and figured I'll rent a kayak out there and just stick to the kelp. My question is how do you guys normally rig when you switch out multiple lures or swimbaits? Normally I have my rods rigged differently and just switch between them, very rarely am I tying anything while on the water as it takes time away from fishing. I was curious if you guys are tying on every time, using a swivel, a clip, or some other method. I know most of you guys, like AmishEd, are using many different things during a single trip and am hoping you have some insight besides "use multiple setups." Thank you in advance for any input!
