First time with the wife

... Kayak fishing that is
Will head to LJ tomorrow after dropping kids to school. I'm hoping to catch something good ... I have a good feeling about this (usually this means I'm going to get skunked) hopefully not tomorrow.

Here is my plan of action:

Paddle past the buoy and troll a big hammer swim bait.
Monitor the FF for bait fish and grab a few with a sabiki rod
Anchor by the edge of a kelp bed and soak squid/lures/live bait


Anyone with tips on techniques or good spots please feel free to help a newbie.
