Zach Likes to Fish
My 6 year old son Zach got a fishing kayak from Santa this year. He has been out fishing 3 times so far, in winter.
This came home in his first grade homework packet the other day ... I guess he likes it .... He is up to 6 fish and three species of fish. His nicest fish to date ... He is super confident now .. He even got to see something really really cool .......... When we were out, a man kayaked over to us and asked if we could help his son who was float tubing land his fish that had been on for 20 minutes. I said, wow it must be a huge halibut. I took out my very large net and waited to see color. When I did, I put the huge net in the water under the fishes tail and said to the man, my net is waay too small and grabbed my gaff. I asked if they wanted to do it and they told me to go for it. I explained that there was a chance I could lose it in the gaff attempt, and they said go ahead. Well I popped it, and got a game clip on it in one motion. I have heard stories about the explosive nature of these fish, so I put another game clip on it. Bought it shore and it measured out at 47 " 33 pounds. Caught on 12 pound test! Very nice Trophy Fish. I know it is bad form to post another persons, fish, but all of this happened right in front of my six year old. This was the largest fish I have ever seen caught in front of me and my son saw it all. Now all he can talk about is going out to catch his own 47 " Halibut .......
