I have yet to fish trout in So Cal but every time I see pics of fish being caught down here their tails are a mess. Is that because they are planters or is there some fin disease down here? Not trying to thread jack, just curious as your fish has the same trademark "So Cal tail." Great catch though, that thing is a behemoth for sure!

I've heard two reasons.
1. They live in crowded situations so they get beat up.
2. They're genetically altered and fed so their body grows fast and their tales can't keep up.
