Mission Bay, 11-11-13
Launched from the ramp at Ski Beach around 7:30. There were clear skies and a cool light offshore breeze which died pretty soon after I launched. Water was 61.8º-62.9º and pretty clear.
It was a pretty slow day for me. 4 spots and a sandy. The biggest spot was kind of a bummer. I set the hook and it started taking line right away and did so off and on the whole fight. It was a good fight on the 6#, thought I had a pig. Turned out I had hooked it in the side. Oh well, it was about 15" and the best for the day. 2 others were in the 13" range. Plus a small spot and a micro sandy. Since the bite was slow I stuck mostly to a more finesse like C-rig with slim baits like Zoom Flukes. Also tossed the Hyspin (for 1 of the spots). Most of the fish came on Baby Bass, but Bubble Gum also worked. Of course Hot Sauce was added for flavor. For being a Holiday there was very little traffic on the water. I talked to one other guy in a yak and all he had caught was a couple of Needle Fish. While talking to him Margarita Mike and Chuck came along in Mike's skiff. They too were having a tough time of it. But, we had a nice chat and then parted ways in the search for the right area. Never did find it, and I was off the water by 11:30.
