Stolen Hobie Mirage Alert
September 13, 2013
Stolen Hobie Mirage® Alert Sometime between last night and this morning, Fast Lane Sailing in San Diego had a box trailer stolen from their store that contained 17 or 18 MirageDrives® and about 50 life vests because the trailer was loaded for the National Veterans Summer Sports Clinic that is held in San Diego each year, and started today on Mission Bay. The trailer is a 20’ gray/silver box trailer, and had a Hobie banner mounted to the side that would require a bit of difficulty to remove, so if cut off, may still have some remnants attached to the trailer. Last week, the Mission Bay Yacht Club had 3 Hobie Mirage kayaks stolen from their rack, so there appears to be a ring involved here, and given the number of Drives they will now have, may either be on the lookout to steal more Mirage kayak hulls, or match them up to other hulls they may have already stolen. Alternatively, they may be looking to sell the Drives as after-market items. Please be vigilant to any strange transactions in your area, whether offering a great deal on Drives, Mirage Kayaks, or anything else that looks suspicious either by direct contact, on Craigslist, or from other avenues. Also please take extra precautions with your own inventory and make sure your Hobie Mirage inventory in particular is well-secured. If you have any information that may be helpful to Fast Lane Sailing, please contact Ron or Debbie Lane, or Bailey Busch, at (619) 222-0766. Thanks very much. _________________ Matt Miller Director of Parts and Accessory Sales Hobie Cat USA |
