1 hour of fishing is enough.
A few days ago my son Brian and I hit up LJ for a chance at a YT.
It was Brian's first surf launch, he is 7 years old so the wife was a little nervous about the dangers. ( me too a little) Launched with a few friends around 6 am. Brian was in the front of the tendem and took one to the face. He LOVED it! Looked for bait, it was out there but I only got two pieces of squish, my buddy Jim game me two more pieces. Brian is soaking a bait while I'm working the bait jig. I look over at him and he is quietly working a bendo! WTH! The kid did not even say a word, just holding on for his life. I put my leg under his rod to provide a little more angle so the tip of the rod is up and told him to crank it. Every time the fish took drag, Brian would say " man, this fish must be really mad at me!" Another friend cruisedby and snapped a few photos and offered some encouragement. Finally we see color, his first YT at color. I got lucky on a reaching gaff shot and put Brian's first YT in his lap! A few minutes later I got mine too. Brian, you want to keep fishing or go home? Lets go home Dad, we don't have that much room in the freezer. Leaving the grounds by 7:30.
