White Island, 4-22-13
Launched at 6am with Landwhale from Cherry Beach. It was cold with a brisk south wind and lots of clouds. Water ranged between 61º and 63º and was pretty clean looking. Got out to the island and started fishing. Almost right away I broke off a drag pulling mystery fish and then had another pop off the hook. The rest of the day was a very slow pick.
1 mini rockfish, 1 big sculpin, 1 medium lizard, 1 legal sandy and then 2 shorts. Could never find one consistently working bait or color. Fished the slip jig, 4" Swing, and 4" Flurry. All with Hot Sauce. Weather warmed and cleared as the morning wore on, but never got warm. But, it was a fun day and after 3 months off the water it was just nice to be fishing again.
