LJ mystery fish

I went out last Sunday. There was 1 boat, and I was one of 3 yaks out there. Odd because conditions were perfect. The other guys were fishing calicos successfully. I was floating around baited up with a freakishly large mack, whatever, I'll give it a shot. Slammed! Put up a typical fight.....for 6-7 SECONDS! Clean cut on the line! There wasn't a rough "dog attacking the newspaper" moment either when it happened. 65lb spectra with a long shot of 30lb mono. Didn't break at the knot, no sign of weak spots in it either, I always check prior. Reverse dropper loop. Boils down to time on the water, still a fun day. Any ideas?
