On the water at 9:30, got a mixed tank of chovies and sardines and headed out the harbor. Wind was low from the SW, water was cool and had a slight ripple to it, 4-5 foot swells from the NW.
Headed to the pipe, met another kayaker fishing there who had managed three sandies. Got no love, think perhaps I was out too deep at 52'. Decided to head south. Fished several kelp areas for three 14-15" bass on the chovies and lost three rather heavy biters. Wind started picking up around 11am and water got a bit sloppy with 4-5' swells coupled with the wind waves from the SW. Headed inshore to try for hali's, found a location where the swells didn't build, there were a few larger sets that had me concerned coming in. Wind started dying down though. Got a 'butt, 30", 10.11lbs on a sardine in 14ft of water. Called it a day and headed on in at about 3pm, back at the dock around 4:30pm. Wind was dead by that time, water was smooth. Not a bad day at all.
