Report 5-10
Got to the launch at 5:15 to grey/overcast skys and a light onshore wind that was texturing the water. At 5:15... that doesn't bode well especially since the tide is dropping all morning, I thought. Well, I'm here and I want my first .
Geared up after chatting with a couple of Salts from OB- I hit the water and launched in small 1-2' surf and headed for the pier. Tried to make bait for 45 min or so without success. Other guys were having problems by that time too. Headed out to toss the hard stuff and see if I could make bait there. Birds and bait were everywhere early in the morning until 9am or so. I had no luck finding fish or bait the whole morning except for one calico that bit my brn/yel/wht taddy #9. Wind was variable but did pick up pretty briskly for a little while from NNW, and seemed to be less on the inside. Current was mild. Saw the Salts back at the launch- one caught a nice looking ~20#er on his blu/wht taddy.... heard another report of a PBer catching a smaller wsb. Off the water by 11. Still have a lot to learn. Good luck this weekend. |
