Check out OEX. Take a yak out for a 'test drive' short yaks handle differently than longer ones, wider ones are harder to paddle (because of the drag), then there are stability issues.
I was lucky I did a lot of research and found one I liked without a test drive (I live near Magic Mtn.), but now that I have back issues the Hobie is the only way to go for me.
