July 4th Darkness
Well, I went out again despite upsetting the fiance about taking off for half the day. Launched 5:15 at first light, got to the kelp and started making bait. Finally found the right size at about 6:50, got 4 in the tank, and then a huge school of barracuda came rolling through. It was completed mayhem while they were in there. Every bird in the area came crashing. Set down the bait rig and grabbed the surface iron...Bam. First cast, barry...released. Second cast bam, same. I went seven straight casts bringing in a barracuda. Caught and released about 12 of them and went back to making bait, but of course, the bait is gone.
Decided 4 would be enough and headed out. That would be the last action I would see all day. Drizzled on nearly the whole time. I never even saw a quick thin spot in the clouds. Colder, windier, which led to slower. Nothing for the morning. Headed in around 11:00 am, packed up and out by noon. Sure hope the weather turns back around quickly. |
