BARRETT
I scored a couple of tube spots for this past Sunday and had the pleasure to catch at lake Barrett In San Diego with my teammate Gilbert. I haven't fished Largemouth since I was a teenager and was looking forward to the great bite. They had been letting people in early instead of the normal 5am so we got up at 2:30am and headed to the lake. We got there at 3:45 and Laurie showed up to let us in at 4:15 and on the water before 5:00. The bite was not the greatest in the dark but we caught fish, tuff to see what you're casting at.
Once the sun came out it was game on!!! We found a little cove in Hauser and proceeded to blast the green bass. I fished one side of the cove and Gilbert the other side and after about 30 minutes we had over 30 fish between the both of us. By 9:30 we had over 60 fish. We continued working Hauser and caught fish left and right. At about 12:00 we took a break from the Kayaks for lunch, so I desided to fish the shore like when I was a kid. 1st cast I get a nice 3lber, Gilbert throws in the same spot and he's on. We get on the kayaks and kept on catching not fishing until about 5:00 when the catching slowed down to fishing. The fish were between 1.5 -3lbs with a couple of 4's and 5's. If you ever get the chance to go to Barrett take it!!! We ended the day with well over 120 green bass, one bluegill and one black crappie. The fish bite everything we offered them except topwater. Top producers for me were the T-rigged Berkley Havoc Hawk Hog in june bug, black n blue jig with a Berkley pit boss trailer. Ken Team Dana Point Jet Ski
