Day at the docks, wsb & rock fish
My son and I went out to Day at the Docks today for the first time today. Very busy out there. Coolest thing we saw was the Hubbs
Sea Word Research Institute WSB fish tank! The little WSB are 90 days old and about 3" long. We were told they will reach legal size in about 2 years. Very cool. Save your WSB heads and drop them off for Hubbs to test, I will drop mine off soon....That is when I catch it! www.hswri.org Also there was a cool rock fish re-compresser rig that SquidCo was selling. You can find it a www.ecoleeser.com. Little pricy for my taste but I am sure you can make your own. I talked to a rep at EcoLesser and he told me that even if the rock fish eyes are poped they can still survive. You want to get them back to about 100' and release them. You just hook them in the bottom lip drop them back to 100' or so and pull the rod like you set the hook and the fish is released. Also picked up some good knots from the Izor Line booth. All in all a great day shared with my son at day at the docks. Also met a fellow yaker Todd out there, nice to meet ya. Hope you all had a great day there or OTW! Cheers Todd |
