Hot bite report and payback.

A BWE regular who’s name I won’t mention was on the water for his weekly fishing trip. He began his day with a 28-pound white sea bass on the first cast and a 37-pounder on the second. On the third cast he had just caught his first ever Yellowtail over 41 pounds.

He was so excited he took pictures with his iphone and posted them on the BWE forum. Immediately after this his cell phone rang.

It was his brother in law notifying him that his wife had just been in a terrible accident and was in critical condition and in the ICU. The man told his brother in law to inform his wife where he was, and that he'd be there as soon as possible. As he hung up he realized he was leaving La Jolla in what was shaping up to be the hottest bite ever.

He decided to get in a couple of more casts before heading to the hospital. He ended up fishing the rest of the morning, finishing his trip with a stringer like he'd never seen, 6 ghost caught and released and a 41 lb. tail. He was jubilant.

Then he remembered his wife. Feeling guilty, he dashed to the hospital. He saw his brother in law pacing the corridor and asked about his wife's condition.

The brother in law asked what took him so long to get there. The man told him about his morning fishing.

The brother in law glared at him and shouted, "I hope you're proud of yourself! While you were out for the past four hours enjoying yourself, your wife has been anguishing in the ICU! It's just as well you went ahead and fished, because it will be more than likely the last fishing trip you ever take! For the rest of her life she will require 'round the clock care. And you'll be her caregiver forever!"

The man was feeling so guilty he broke down and sobbed.

The Brother in law then said, "I'm just pulling your leg. Your wife has gone shopping. I just wanted to be sure you remember to call me next time and not to post on BWE until the bite is over.
