More Knot Wars
I went to Day at the Docks today and stumbled across the Izorline Booth proudly displaying their knot machine.
The lure was just too strong I couldn't resist the temptation to tie a knot. -After checking out the scores (97 lb.) at the time - I tie a fishable SD style knot that broke at 99 lbs. for a high score. Then I immediately tied another variation of the SD style knot for a 100.5 lb. It remained that way all day until JL from Squidco tied a monster knot that broke at 102 lb. Another guy tied a 100.5 lb. and one more guy was able to score a 102 lbs. So the four of us were in the finals. ------------------------------------------------------ 2:30 was the cut off and we each had to come back and tie our best knot. I guess they wanted to have the finalists tie their knots with line from the same section of the spool, as the line strength and diameter will vary throughout the spool. -The first guy ties a 71 lbs. and it snaps in his knot. -I tie my knot which breaks at 90.0 lbs., but it snaps in the Izorline not my knot. -JL from Squidco had some difficulties and his knot broke at 26 lbs. (sometimes shit happens) -Then the final guy ties his knot which broke at 90.5 lbs. inside his knot. SOB - I felt a little ripped off that the Izorline broke and not my knot, but thats how it goes sometimes. So I get 2nd. Place and a Friends of Rollo T-Shirt. The Winner gets a free trip on a 1 1/2 Day Boat. Heres a pic of my knot, notice the 3 tag ends on the left side and the 1" piece of mainline where it broke. Still not bad for 60 lb. test line.
