LJ on Wednesday
Predawn launch in excellent weather and surf. Made great bait at the point, which mostly went unused. Right away a big dog was on us, after stealing one of Julie's baits he headed for a PBer. We boogied while the coast was clear.
Julie's next bait was picked up about 30 minutes later, dropped, picked up again, then deserted. End result, crushed head. Another 45 minutes go by, and we spot that same damn big dog behind us. Julie cleared her lines, Aaron brought in the head of a mackeral on the low rig. His fly-line was still out and gets bit. The battle with the yellow almost won, he tightens the drag to horse it in. The dog beats him to the prize. 10 minutes more of tug-of-war (no give aways here), the dog whips his head while Aaron jerks his rod, the spectra snaps. Hopefully, that seal has some nice spectra cuts around his mug. No real action for the next couple of hours. Just as we start to head in, Aaron gets picked up. Excellent fight, but 15 minutes later, Aaron wins this one. 25 pounds (24.9 lbs at OEX). Here's the pic: Hope we get one like this on Saturday .
