Way late Sat report for SD bay
Same as usual. Launch in the bay about 5:00AM. Picked up bait at the receiver. Out to the mouth of the harbor. Kind of slow out there with just a few shorts, rakes and a couple of spotted bay bass released.
Went back to the receiver for another $5 scoop, which turned out to be the smallest sardines we've ever seen. They would've been pinheads even if they were anchovies. By now, the wind was murder. So we dropped anchor and fished just one spot. After many shorts, which we think outraced their larger counterparts, Julie finally nails this 5 lber, a twin to Aaron's the week before: We both should've probably released them and taken the 15 points, vice the 10, but at least we got fresh halibut to eat. Sorry for the late report, but after fishing last Wednesday and Friday at La Jolla, then Saturday in the bay, we were beat. Too tired to even post until today. It's hell getting old.
