La Jolla one lure challenge
I was looking at an east coast kayak site, and they had a novel tournament idea, The limited # of entrants had to show up at the launch without any lures of their own. They would all be given the same lure and only that lure and may the best angler win.
I have decided to do the same tomorrow at LJ. I am only going to bring 4 lucanus jigs with me. It won't be strictly like the tournament as my lure are 4 different colors, red blue pink and my favorite, chartreuse.I have three rods that will work well with these lures and all will be set up with braid and 20# pink ande mono leaders. The pink ande gets bit well shallow or deep. I plan on fishing the rock piles, the kelp edges and some sand flats. I think I will use the colors as follows: Pink - Deep water rock piles Red - Kelp edges Blue - Sand Flats Chartreuse - Everywhere I would be interested to know if anyone else has tried this at LJ before. I have fished the bay with a single lure before and had good success. I plan on being there around sunrise and will be in a baby blue Trident, wearing an orange jacket. Anyone else going out for whatever will bite? |
