Lj 9-20 am report
The original plan was to fish LJ with my wingman Jim. Well one thing lead to another and I was going solo. I arrived at the beach around 6am and was soon on the water in the quest for bait. Bait was made pretty quick and I began the long paddle to the area I wanted to fish. I had nine good baits and was feeling pretty confident about my chances. I paddled past most the boats and put out one of the baits. It was like ringing the dinner bell. Three furbags were in the area within ten minutes.
Furbags made me move off my original area as I put lines in and moved. I could not get away from them. There was a line of boats and the dogs would just move up and down the line eating baits. One time I saw the dog coming and pulled my bait in. The little bastard surfaced about 50 feet behind me looking all over for my bait. Just laying there on the surface looking around. I moved again and was down to two baits. I finally lost the dog pack and got to do some fishing. 10 minutes later and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ fish on!!!!!! The fish towed my around for about ten minutes and faught extreamly hard. Much harder than the one last week. A guy with a couple kids was on a boat close by and were having fun watching me fight the fish. I could hear them talking..."he's in the kelp"..... "no he's not, look at it run"...it was fun. Then I saw the furbag coming my direction. Luckily this was a small sea lion and it just scared the fish on the end of my line. Never did take him and dissapeared from sight. Ten minutes later and a nice Yellowtail is bloodyin up my deck and the kids on the boat are cheering. I put out the last bait and started for the launch. No takers on that one and it was time to hit the beach so I could return home to another frustraing Charger game. The loss didn't seem so bad yesterday after the way I spent the morning. |
