A day late

They day after the tournament seemed like it might be another slow day out at LJ. Caught about 8 barracuda on the sabiki while trying to find some greenbacks. Never did find any greenbacks, but had enough spanish for the day. Dragged them around for quite a while, didn't see much happening and considered heading home at which point, I had a spanish get slammed by a yellow, giving me some hope. I tossed out a fresh one and shortly thereafter my reel started screaming.

After about a ten minute fight with several blistering runs, he wrapped me up really bad in the kelp. 15 minutes of tugging and pulling later, I had almost given up when finally I snapped through the kelp, brought him up to the boat, and let out a big holler.

Would have been much easier with spectra, but was very surprised at how hard you can pull on 30lb mono. Should have taken Sammons's advice; snugged the drag a little more and kept him out of the kelp in the first place.

Thanks Mark for taking the picture. Hope you found yours.
