State Senate to decide the fate of the CP
It looks like anyone who thinks the Children's Pool should be a place for human children to play is going to be disappointed. In the U/T today it was reported that the State Senate will be voting on a bill that takes the decision on seals versus children out of the courts and hands it over to the San Diego City Council. Well, we all know how this bunch is going to vote. We're screwed.
Here is the article. http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stori...ate/?uniontrib With the exception of Sheri Lightner, all the council members have already sided with the seals. These positions are based on a combination of ignorance about the issue on the council members part, a politically self-serving desire not to appear to be against the cute baby seals and Money. Money is the big motivator. Everyone knows that the City is broke. The prospect of spending the money needed to comply with the court order to return the CP to its pre-seal splendor is something these folks want to avoid. Instead, they intend to turn over one of the most beautiful beaches in the world to a bunch of non-native squatters. They conveniently forget that this beach was a gift from a generous donor for the specific use of our children. I am hopeful that someone from the Scripps family steps up and puts a stop to this travesty. In the mean time, we need to make it very clear to the politicians that seals do not vote. Bob |
