LJ Trip 12/22

My buddy and I headed down to LJ to change it up a bit on Sunday. We ended up paddling out at greylight which was pretty cold. We started seeing bait on the meter and small boils everywhere and got some macks and smelt rather quickly. We trolled around for a bit with no takers. I had the luxury of seeing a thresher jump out of the water right near us. We met up with another buddy a little later on and in the middle of telling him about the thresher, another one leaped out right next to us. Pretty cool shark, even though we could'nt get them to bite.

Later on we ended up floating the kelp for an assortment of rock fish and some small calis. Although these were not the fish we came for, it was still a blast and a beautiful day...calm and sunny all day long. When we landed, the lifeguard announced that a whale was about 100 yards out...he gave us a nice show. Can't wait to do it again. Thanks again to all of you that gave advice on LJ. Hope to see you out there.
